Established as a production banner for a single feature film, CUT: Reckoning, the ambition of Cold Start Films is to continue producing original media content while providing a collaborative platform for the education and promotion of aspiring independent filmmakers in and around Ohio.
15 years after being abducted, tortured, and left for dead by sadistic classmates, a chance encounter leads mild-mannered Jody on an unexpected path of vengeance.
The Cold Start Films team began production of “CUT: Reckoning” in late summer 2018 with a small but dedicated volunteer crew, most of whom had never worked in film production before. With the assistance of several generous 3rd-party people and organizations we made great progress over the next year and a half. With less than 3 days of principal photography left in order to wrap the film, we were shut down by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and forced to delay production. After more than 2 years of waiting and many attempts to resume filming, we encountered a plethora of unexpected roadblocks including last-minute cast/crew cancellations, errors with electronic file transfers between Black Eagle Productions and Cold Start Films, the loss of access to planned filming locations, the relocation of multiple team members across the state of Ohio, and more. As such, this version of the film is still missing a few short scenes and some music/audio processing. Placeholders have been inserted at various points with text describing what is yet to be added for the final cut of the film.
We have not given up on our goal of finishing the the film properly, but because production has been delayed for so long already, we have made the difficult decision to forego the traditional theatrical/media release of the film for the time being in order to give viewers a nearly-complete version of what so many of our friends and family have been waiting to see.
